T3 : Desorphanization of G Protein-coupled receptors (GPCR)

Objective: To develop a reverse endocrinology/pharmacology functional bioassay that uses the receptor as a hook to characterize its cognate ligand. We  focus on eel, oyster, cuttlefish or coral orphan GPCRs displaying phylogenetic relatedness with vertebrate or insect functionally characterized receptors.
First, this  involve the functional characterization of receptor/peptide couples for which orthologies have been predicted between deuterostome/lophotrochozoan signalling and especially those believed to play a critical role in the regulation of reproduction. Second, any pertinent putative ligand receptor pair is characterized in WP1 and WP2 will be investigated.
