T2 : Regulatory roles of neuropeptides and receptors : in vitro and ex vivo studies

Task 2 aims at studying the possible involvement of neuropeptide/receptor pairs, selected in WP3, in the control of reproduction by using in vitro systems. In addition to give insights into the direct effects of neuropeptides on their target organs, the in vitro approaches allow to reduce the number of experimental animals as well the amount of neuropeptide necessary for the tests. Primary cell cultures and organ explants in the eel, as well as myotropic assays in the cuttlefish, are applied in order to test the effects of homologous neuropeptides, synthesized in Task 1 of WP3, on receptor and target tissues.
