Research topics

My main research topic is reproduction of stony corals. In particular, I am interested in molecular/cellular/endocrine mechanisms underlying coral sexual reproduction. My research has concentrated on three aspects of coral sexual reproduction. 1) The origin of eggs and sperm in coral body, 2) Egg yolk formation and accumulation, 3) Molecular and hormonal control of germ cell development. 4) Mechanism of oocyte maturation and spawning. In the NEMO project, I would like to identify the neuropeptides in corals and elcidate their evolutionarily conserved function in the various biological processes, especially in sexual reproduction.
